Log My Lift

Terms of Use

Last updated 8 September 2026. Short, and in plain English.

The short version

Log the lifts, be decent to the people on your leaderboard, and do not treat a workout app as a doctor. If someone is abusive, block them and tell me. I read every report and I act on them within a day.

Using the app

Log My Lift is free to use on your own iPhone. There is no account, no password and nothing to sign up for. Everything you log lives on your phone; the only part that goes anywhere is the leaderboard, and only if you claim a username.

You may not use the app to break the law, to interfere with how it works for anyone else, or to try to reach other people's data.

Your username, and the people you compete with

Claiming a username makes it visible to anyone who knows it, and makes your published lift numbers visible to friends who have added you. That is the whole point of the Compete tab, and it is the only part of the app anyone else can see.

What is not allowed

There is no messaging in Log My Lift. You cannot type anything to another person. The only text you choose that anyone else sees is your username and the names of your workouts and exercises. Those must not be:

You also may not use the app to harass, threaten or target another person, including by repeatedly adding somebody who has blocked you.

Zero tolerance, and what I actually do

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour. If you report someone, the report reaches me. I review reports and act within 24 hours. That means deleting the offending username and its published numbers from the leaderboard, and barring the person from claiming a name again. There is no appeal queue and no committee; it is one person reading it and dealing with it.

Blocking is separate and instant. It happens on your phone, needs no network, and does not wait on me. A blocked person disappears from your board, their messages are deleted, they come off your friends list, and they cannot get back on, including through an invite link. They are never told.

The app also refuses to publish a username containing slurs or obvious impersonation, and filters the same terms out of anything a friend sends you before it reaches your phone.

This is not medical advice

Log My Lift records numbers you type in and does arithmetic on them. Estimated one-rep maxes are estimates from a formula, not a prediction of what you can safely lift. Calorie and nutrient targets are whatever you set them to. None of it is medical, dietary or training advice, and none of it comes from a professional who knows anything about you. Talk to a doctor before starting or changing a training or eating programme, and stop if something hurts.

Your data

What the app collects, and what it does not, is set out in the privacy policy. In short: your workouts, food and weigh-ins never leave your phone, and deleting the app deletes them. Deleting your profile from inside the app removes your username and published numbers from the leaderboard and frees the name for someone else.

Because your training history lives only on your device, keeping it is up to you. An iPhone backup is what carries it to a new phone. If you delete the app without a backup, it is gone, and I have no copy to restore.

The app comes as it is

Log My Lift is provided as it is, with no warranty. It is written and maintained by one person, and it will have bugs. I will fix the ones I know about (tell me), but I cannot promise it will always work, always be available, or never lose anything. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for loss arising from using it. Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the new version is here. Continuing to use the app means the current version applies.
